Hello all. The last time i wrote on here i was asking about the engine codes 19 and 16. I have just changed the cam sensor, (which is a genuine part) re connected the battery and took it for a test run, but the light on the dash came on again, so i done the paper clip test and the same engine codes flash up as before. Any ideas?? I understand that 16 is a knock sensor. Is this easy to replace? Many thanks.

sorry i mean i just changed the crank sensor not the cam sensor. :o

I believe that the codes stay stored until 20 clean starts after the problem has been fixed.
If someone was reading the codes via the proper kit then they can erase them using the kit.

16 is knock sensor 1....this is on the drivers side so inspect the wiring as I have seen it get damaged after a poor cambelt change.

oh i see. ill wait and see then. thanks very much. :y

Hi
If the engine check light is still coming on then you still have a problem, although it is true that the old fault codes will be stored until you have completed a number of clean starts. Just because the paper clip test indicates a fault with say the knock sensor it doesn't mean the sensor itself is faulty, it could be the plug/socket or the wiring, check those first before changing the sensor.

for what its worth My crank sensor failed over a year ago , had it replaced with genuine vaux one, since then cars running fine no problem starting etc so its obviously working. But code 19 has never gone away. I've stopped worrying about it now as long as the car starts and runs fine I'm happy.
