Title: A bit thirsty
Post by: Martin_1962 on 26 April 2010, 16:07:49
My car seems a little thirsty, instant is low 30s rather than high 30s at lowish lockup speeds.

So what to check?

Air filter OK, MAF good, now known air leaks, petrol and gas the same.

if you dont see any idle problems either from cold or hot, no hesitation or low power, imo there wont be a serious issue effecting mpg values other than gearbox.. :-/

and which I forgot to say yesterday, even a tiny leak in exhaust system can increase consumption but you should hear that..

depends on the position.. if its before the lambda sensors their reading will be effected..and ecu will try adjusting..

and also even if its after the lambda sensors and the leak is relatively high (or a changed wider exhaust system) you will loose some from low rpm torque.. will also effect consumption..
