Hi guys, located in Poole Dorset, i can top up your aircon gas and give it a leak test and check over other bits while the bonnet is up. £50 mobile charge within small radius. but i do frequent thames valley so i may be able to do a meet up. or do a deal at an oof meet up.
Shortly i will have a workshop i will be operating from for all the police vehicles, so you would be welcome to come there and i would do it there and then for you.
Again, in poole, dorset.

Looks more like a blatant attempt to advertise on the cheap to me.

Don't see much wrong with that on a car forum especially if a benefit to OOF members. :y

He's already advertised the same service in other sections, and £50 isn't a "special deal"......it's the going rate.

Without getting into the advertising argument ..... :(
Local specialist in Swindon is doing a full regas - and its a proper job too - for £39.99. Takes about 50 minutes as they do a full 30 minute vacuum
Anyone local to swidnod who wants details ... happy to oblige .. :)
-
thats a good price, thats what i do for the money too. £50 is the mobile call out price.
theres plenty about, best thing is to use a specialist like him or me, as u dont want a kwik fitter jamming a load of gas in. i removed almost 2kilos from mates bmw yesterday (meant to have 1100g) , as they had over charged it and instead of 225psi on the high side, it had 480 and had cut out on high pressure. what can i say! :y
-
I just wish there was a specialist around here for £50!
I paid around £70 last time, and that was a while ago.
sure as hell not letting kwikfit at it

I wish there was someone around here, as well, had mine done twice now at different places, since I've owned it, convinced neither put the correct amount of gas in it. >:(

they probably havent repaired it, just gassed it up.
£50 is the "going rate" at some places but doesnt include a full check of the system for leaks etc... most garages wack gas in then charge the customer.
hence the revisits.
thats why when i do it, you get a full leak test :y
and no, i wasnt advertising, as i normaly charge £85+vat. for what im offering OOF flat rate of £50 for. literaly was offering a deal to OOF people who in troubled financial times, will be needing all the savings possible as its tough out there at the moment!

Simon, Many thanks for the aircon high pressure valve change and the complete vac, regas and leak test that you did few days ago. The aircon is working very well. can higly recommend to other OOF members. with kind regards

Seems a fair price wish I could find someone in south Yorkshire who does it that cheap

That original post was last July, is it still £50?
If so then a good price.
I had two quotes for regassing my TD £60 & £70 the higher one being a Vx dealer local to me.
The lower price one I am going with shortly as he explained everything they do thoroughly, including testing, pressure checks etc...So sounds good :y

kwikfit do em for £49 inc
mobile outfits seem to be around the £50 mark too.
'trusted' outlets seem to be £60-70 +
trouble is trusting who is doing it. :-/
Need a regas myself, no measureable leak when on the machines....but after 6 months it sure aint very cold anymore. :'(

I had mine regassed (along with other repairs) Christmas before last, in prepation for last year's holiday in France. All seemed OK over here, but by the time June came, it couldn't cope with the French temperature. He came back to look, & found a very small leak on a pressure switch right at the front of the car, passenger side, where the two halves were crimped together. So far ..... it still seems to be gas tight, the test will come in a couple of months in French France again. :y
Worth a look on your for similar. ;)

cheers...was tempted for the cheapest regas I can find....more tempted now to try someone who is helpful :y

I think my re-gas was £60/£70, but cost me a new compressor :'(

Hi
While we are on the subject of re-gassing, again to some this will be a dumb question as its probably obvious but my Omega's now 8 years old and I don't think its ever been re-gassed? How do you know when it needs re-gassing?
:D

basically things like fans running hard, but not supply cold air, with temp set at something like 18, you still feel hot.
They do lose efficiency so most likely well worth a regas.

Anyone in the Norwich area I can highly recommend Drivecool. Just done mine for £50 and has a 6 month guarantee on regasses. He also replaced the valve that leaked in the first place free of charge (I supplied the valve).
-
Thanks Jimbob,
Probably speak to Entwood as I'm near Swindon and get it done nothing to loose?
:)

..... He also replaced the valve that leaked in the first place free of charge (I supplied the valve).
I should think so, each takes seconds to fit :y

the bloke who fitted mine, told me I needed the whole pipe :-? Common sense says that even Vauxhall would make a fill valve a replacable part without replacing a £100+ pipe.
When he came back I also gave him the new valve .... part no courtesy of andyc :y :y :y

my condenser is leaking so that needs to be replaced before a re-gas :(

Mine hasn't been done for 2 years; does anyone know where a good place is for this in the Sheffield area?
From what I've heard you are meant to replace the gas and make sure they put in some lubricant every two years. This is to ensure the seals are kept in good condition. You should also run your aircon for 10 mins every week to ensure the lubricant gets sent round to the seals. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm quite happy to not spend money getting it done!
