Title: Dealer Labour Hours for Timing Belt and Water Pump
Post by: Luzy6 on 29 April 2010, 11:26:16
Just a quick question guys.
I'm taking my 3.2 to the local Opel dealer for a Timing Belt and water pump change. Does any body know how many hours this should take? Just need a reference point so I know they are not stinging me. I have got my kit and water pump from Autovaux so it should just be labour.

Thanks all

You should really put your location and i would get it done by a forum member.  They are not only a lot chaeper but you get a much better job done.

I would love someone to come and help me do it rather then taking it to my dealer. Does anyboby fancy a few days holiday in Austria. I've got a spare bed and I will feed you.

autodata gives book time of 2.9 hrs for the belt and 2.9hrs for the w/pump but done together should be less than that

The other option is to do what I'm going to do.. And I'm not mechanically minded..

Purchased the DVD from the forum shop(already purchased), hire the cam locking kit from autovaux at £15.60+vat for 7 days (£100 deposit required).. And then fit it yourself...

You will probably do a better job than the stealers!!

Now if your all sure you dont want a free holiday, the weather is lovely today. Its about 24 deg and clear blue skys. The beers not bad either. Pitty I'm stuck in the office.

Is Autodata a website where I can find this information?

Thanks all

Given your location you really need to start by asking how much they will charge for these jobs. I used a dealer and something went wrong and it was fixed totally at their expense even though there was some doubt as to the cause of the problem.

Experience of a main dealer/ reports of others would be useful to establish.

agreed.. you will need somebody experienced to help  you , otherwise risky.. dealers give guarantee for some time and mileage in case of expensive failures..
