Can anybody throw any light on the fact that from chassis no 31000001 on 2.6 facelift the gaskets for one bank becomes a single unit rather than 2 seperate parts Are they interchangable are the covers and the head diferent? the gaskets on my car chassis no 31082175 where 2 part when I removed them.

Not seen those available for a long time.....or even ever as a service part
They were changed due to water getting to the coil packs, the recommendation is to use the 2 part gaskets and run a bead of sealent along the markings on the cover to achieve the same job

Thanks Marks DTM when you say along the marks can you explain more

If you are wondering Ron, the back sealant was smeared along those edges on the two part gaskets (part no's as Mark quotes) that were fitted.
Caffyn's obviously tried to sell you that "one piece" old gasket.
To stop rain water dripping down into the area of the coil packs / plug wells, I reckon we could place some sealant along the inside line of the plastic can cover 'bridge' that joins each cover on one bank together, which I think Mark is intermating :-/ :-/.
Let us know Ron if you want me to do this :-* :-*

Thanks Lizzie My main concern at the moment is that I have an oil leak on the passenger side only a small leak but it is there. would a slight tighten on the retaining bolts help. I will look tomorrow to see where you mean for the sealant Ron
