Anyone on here fancy helping fit LPG to v6 would be paid but could do with your experience!how long would it take? :yo
-
Might be, but usually its diy then ask on here as you go.
What kit do you have?
-
Not sure yet just bought it off eBay and is currently on a v6 I'm going down to remove it so should see how it goes but would like some help!
-
its a 3 day job assuming all goes well, beware the kits of eBay are just the basics. You need a lot more than what you get, loads of water pipes, brackets, bolts, this was the everything i needed:

As it's on a working omega I guess all the bits are there and I'm hoping to keep the heads so won't have to drill mine!

Its second hand SGI install?
-
2nd hand kits may end up a false economy... I hope you get the lead and software to calibrate it :-?
If you're removing it then make sure you take lots of pictures and notes about where everything connects to. You'll need new pipework anyway so I'd advise going for Polyflex... It's easier to work with :y

Echo above, kit we use (Stag) is well used on forum, comes with diagrams and can get lot of support here. Its also got good diagnosis and works well.
Second hand could be whole tin of worms, second hand tanks also need to be pressure tested if older than 10 years, you going to have to get new pipe work anyway such as polyflex/copper, you might want to spend few extra quite and buy a new kit which has warranty and documentation.
V6 Stag kit is £600 :y

Personally i would steer well clear of that, its a completely unknown system, you don't know if its SGI or Mixer, you have no idea how its been wired in, couple of crappy basic photos, nothing of the front end!!!
Its also very expensive....
-
That case I won't do it!thanks all!Thought would be easier coming off a car but lack knowledge again!

Your relying on seller removing it correctly, and getting it all.
The actual components of LPG are not that expensive, its all the other little bits of the kit which make up the cost.
Its worth going for a new kit, just take that little bit longer to pay off.
I had some help, so even extra costs like hotel and food for said guests bumped conversion costs up slightly, but at end of the day, meant it would take just a few more weeks to recover the cost.
Remember, £600 investment in LPG, will take about 10k miles to re-pay
-
If you go down there to collect it then just make sure you have everything... I don't agree with Tunnie that it's too expensive. £200 is a big saving on the tank/front end as long as it's a recent installation :y
But with no documents/software/leads it will be a real nightmare to fit :y

Was about £480 for tank, and front end kit for me. Add on postage at £240, i'd say thats expensive for second hand, unknown kit which has most likey done a lot of miles

What does everyone mean by software?
-
You need to connect laptop with special software to configure and calibrate the system.
-
What does everyone mean by software?
LPG has its own ECU, and it has to copy the standard engine ECU, it has to be calibrated, and learn how petrol injectors fire and copy that.

And you need the full access to do it properly... An auto calibration will not be sufficient ;)
As for £240... I just assumed he'd be collecting it. I hadn't even looked at locations :-[ ::)

If it's running OK then don't worry ;) ;)
