Hi all, on my 3.0 I already have a Pipercross panel airfilter and a Jetex exhaust system. Was on the internet the other day, found a site selling Jetex air induction kits. Basically a cone shaped airfilter which does away with the airbox. About £100, has anybody used one on their Omega and is there any noticable gain/difference?

Expect to see a noticible drop in performance compared to the standard setup...

And if it`s an oiled filter you can also expect a buggered MAF

as above, they nacker you MAF sensor and will reduce performance

Complete waste of money - unless it's non-oiled and you fit it in a box, sealed from the rest of the engine bay and have a smooth, dedicated cold air feed to it.

In short.....Don't do it.
can actually REDUCE tractibility, affects the running via the false readings produced by a dirty MAF sensor (and can knacker the MAF too) makes lots of "boy racer" noise, and really has no real gain in any way.
If you want to better your induction system, use a good non-oiled panel air filter, and cut off the tube( leaving about 5mm) in your airbox, clean up and polish the throttle bodies and make sure the cold air feed is unobstructed into your airbox using a proprietry hose to the bottom of your front spoiler by the front foglight with some sort of gauze over it to stop foreign bodies.
only 5bhp max to be gained, but runs better and has a slight induction sound to boot.

I know cone filter will take hot air from engine bay, but what if I create some obstacle to shield it from the rest of engine bay? Like some ceramic/metal plate, my friend got it with air intake kit for his 200SX. Then lead some cold air from outside and everything should be OK, or am I mistaken? :) I know power gain will be minimal or none, but it should not be lower I hope. The main goal is to highlight the sound of V6. Not make it louder, just more full - I like the sound of petrol V6 (well, I haven“t heard the sound of V8 in real life, so... :) ) 8-)

Unless the cone is in a box, ideally the original, its a waste of time. It gets VERY hot under the hood and no matter how you try to shield the air intake, it WILL suck in warm air, no doubt about it....performance WILL go down. It sounds "more powerfull" but it isn't.
Brain thinks more sound, more power. It isn't.
All the young kids driving around in their 1000cc death traps on wheels think they have got so much power because the cars sound loud. The reality is simply that they have down graded power, not increased it.
I know, I've tried it...for all of about a day, they removed it. The power loss was VERY noticeable.
Don't bother.

OK, thanks for saving my time :) I didn't expect power gain, I just wanted more powerfull sound without loosing power :) I really like the sound inside, but outside it is... maybe too cultivated :) For the power gain, I am planning to polish throttle body and get ecu chip. I am low on budget right now, so I hope this is best cost effective way :) But the gain from chip should be only around 15kW, I don't know if it will be noticable in such heavy car... Any experiecne? :)) (and sorry for off topic)

Ii'll save the £100 pound and spend on something useful.
