Title: Headlamp washers.
Post by: Mikes1670 on 05 May 2010, 15:43:00
Hi all, stripped out my washer bottle today with help from Welung666 to investigate a leak under the front valance - thought it was a split seam on the washer bottle. On inspection I found the leak was coming the headlight washer pump. So, two options:-
1. Replace headlight washer pump - anyone know how much these are? (Not sure how necessary/effective the HL washers are. Other makes of cars with this option seem to have wipers as well).
2. Strip out the headlight washer system - (the windscreen washers have their own pump). I would need to replace the trim under the headlights as they have a hole for the HL washer jets. I would also need another washer bottle without the hole for the HL washer pump. The electrical connector for the HL washer pump could just be taped up to stop water ingress.

Any comments/ideas welcome.

I had a similar leak - was from the HID washer pump.  fixed it by just replacing the rubber grommit that sits between the pump and the tank, old one had gone hard with age, was £2-3 iirc

Hi,
My 2.2 CD does not have the headlamp washer, however where the pump would connect to the washer bottle, there is a rubber grommit in the hole.  If you decide not to go for the pump just fit a grommit as Vauxhall did on the cars without.

It's unusual for the pumps to leak, as JimBob says, most likely the sealing ring :y
