Title: Codes 12 and 31?
Post by: RobseyMV6 on 08 May 2010, 16:53:50
Did a paper clip test on a 3.0 manual facelift 2000 as dash clocks die and abs and tc come on, could this be code 31, no engine RPM signal, where do i find the problem for this?
Thanks  :y

If you do the test with the engine running you will not get the code as the sensor is getting a signal.

12 is start/end of test
31 is normal with engine off as crank shaft sensor is obviously not getting a signal

both TC and ABS lights on and speedo not working is 99% certainly TC/ABS ECU failed or 1% both sensors not working...

AS above - dying abs ecu most likely  :(

Awkward job to do but doable  :y

Think it maybe better to remove engine to do the job!

Its a piece of cake mate...just bend the unit up towards you a little as the brake pipes have some flexibility and the screws holding the ECU in place are easy to get to to remove and put back :y
