Title: ECC problems
Post by: Arson on 12 May 2010, 12:48:36
Hi,

My ECC unit seems to have a mind of it's own. The weather has been awfull lately so I'm really happy to have a car again (used to go to work (60 miles) on my motorbike) but the heater doesn't work for the driver side. Instead it assumes I'm too hot and puts the Aircon on high power while heating the passengerside. What seems to help is to open up my window so all the cold air gets sucked out and i can enjoy some of the warm sweetness of the passenger side. :D

I've tried resetting the ECC (holding the Auto and off button for a couple of secconds) but that doesn't seem to make a difference. My outside temp. sensor doesn't work either. It reeds "--.-C".
My local dealer told me this might have something to do with it but just turning my car over to them will cost me an arm and one healthy kidney :o. So here i am, any help on this?

these cars do reference the outside temperature as part of the climate control, so changing the outside temp sensor is definatley a 1st step, here they cost about £6 so a cheap part, they sit on the bumper.

sounds like an arm may have popped off inside as well causing the difference in operation, some have managed to pop it back on, and am sure they will be along with the method.

Hmm..  I'll give that a go. It seems someone has been fooling around with the dashboard anyway. Instrumentlighting is not working properly, nor does the the Tachymeter (the one that reads how far you've gone) so the dash needs to come out anyway.

Thanks, I'll let you know what the result is!
