I run a 2000 Wreg 2.5 Elite.
Can anyone tell me what type of Autobox oil it needs?
Apparently "later" Omega autoboxes need synthetic oil, but is mine a "later" model?
Thanks in advance.

I think you,ll find as I did vx dexron 111 is no longer available and on enquiry vx dexron V1 now supercedes it.I agonised over this as most members but not all advised the use of an alternative equivalent brand or why, and when I enquired at jpat when I ordered my replacement filter and gaskets they told me that dexron v1 was a much improved fluid to dexron 111 so thats what I used, they are after all top autobox experts. Now the plot thickens, when I did the job I did't know that when you do a fluid change 1/3 of the fluid remains behind so I was left with a mix of 1 part old 111 and 2 parts newV1 I am definitely uncomfortable about this as I tow a caravan. So have decided in the expensive option of removeing 3 pints of fluid with a suction gun every 1000 mls 3 times. Then every service after this, I have'nt noticed any probs with the box as yet, but I can do this and try and avoid any issues that could arise. So I now know I would have been much happier useing as most members said the nearest equivalent to dex 111.Sorry about the long diatribe just thought I'd tell you my experience to help you make up your mind, still feel a bit sick about autoboxes, fault codes, and fluid. :y :y

dexron 111.
lets take the pas fluid as an example, this is dexron 11 specification, but long ago when dexron 111 became available, gm decided to upgrade the pas fluid to 111 as it was ment to superceed 11.
Trouble was the hydrolic lines on the pas pump started to leak, this lead to warranty claims to change the pipes but these leaked as well. Eventually gm reverted back to dexron 2 and the problem went away. (although the pipes are still prone to leaking it seams)
Moral of the story to me is, stick with the proven product, why introduce other variables?

The reason this question arose is the following passage about autoboxes in the Omega article on page 37 of the May 2010 edition of "Car Mechanics":
"...Later ones use synthetic oil.....You must never use Dexron in an autobox that requires synthetic."
But someone above said all Omegas use Dexron.
I have to say that now I'm confused. Perhaps I should just go the the Vauxhall stealer and let them supply me?

vivid workshop data list dexron 3 or opel 19 40 699 for the autobox on a 2.5

That Car Mechanics article has rather a lot of mistakes in it!
Fuch's Titan 4000 from Opie Oils is what most will recommend on here :y

Like if it's the one I read
"cambelt changes every 30,000"
Nothing wrong with that, but incorrect info!

Meant to write to them about that. There was no shortage of "incorrect info" in that article. ::) They plugged OOF nicely. Would have been nice if they'd used us a s a reference source for accurate info. too. ;)
