Title: Wheel bearing problem?
Post by: Alex W on 12 May 2010, 20:17:00
I have recently noticed a new sound coming from my car.

At 60 mph a noise that sounds like someone rolling a ball-bearing around in the bottom of a bucket starts, if I go up to 70mph it stops and its not there at low speeds either. I can't be sure exactly where its coming from. It may be the OSF wheel but I'm not certain of that. I can't hear it over the road noise with the windows down.

Might this be a wheel bearing? What else might cause it?

Is there a simple way to check my wheel bearings on the drive?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

jack the car up put axle stand or bits of wood under just incase and put one hand at the top of the wheel and the other at the bottom and try and rock it(don't allow it to turn) if the wheel clunks on moves bearing worn :y
