Title: Air Con Compressor

Have had an air con leek traced to the compressor, which also gets hot and noisy – it’s been turning when it should have disengaged, i.e. no pressure.

Anyone have any experience in changing a compressor they can pass on and is it a job for one person with the car on axle stands?

I had mine replaced by local aircon man about 2 years ago....needed 1 above car to guide extra long swivel bar extension down past manifold and another below to get socket onto top bolt....by all account it is most certainly atleast 4 hands and quite fiddly as compressor is also heavy...hope that atleast gives you a start .

As above ^^^^^^^ - need help to undo connector on top of compressor from top with socket on long extensions!! :y

Could be done on ramps or axle stands.
No need for two people, if you move the wiring loom/ power steering hose aside you can see the bolt for the pipe connector....just fit all your 3/8 extensions together and undo the bolt from above.
You will have to rotate the compressor as it comes out, make a note which way to make it easier to fit the replacement.
I would get new O rings for the compressor connector.

Which bit is getting hot...the clutch due to drag? If the compressor body is getting hot this is more serious and can mean a blockage on the HP side.

Easy job remove the plastic air intake tebes from pleneum chamber remove auxilary drive belt disconect air con pipes on above engine and one inbetween the rad and engine there is a green seal pull this towards you remove circlip pull pipe out don't loose internal seals the second one has to be done underneath undo the pump there are 3 bolts on the front then wiggle pump out undo the block on top securing the pipes if you are close to Yorkshire I could do it for you for a small fee
