just wondering how common is it for brocken spring and leaky shocks as i have both on rear with bottom coils snapped and both shocks leaking oil would not mind but car has only done 55k
any one now of good place of spares as well as my loacl alternative part place closed shop as i dont trust vauxhallworld after major problems with them in past

Quite common for both on the Omega.
Plus you have to consider age as well as mileage, plus do you know much about the cars past. Has it been used for towing, has it ever been over loaded, then the state of the roads these days, as cars are desined to cope with smooth roads with patches of unveness, not roads for of poyholes with patches of smooth tarmac.

yep kyb do the job nicely, vx shocks aren't too unreasonable on trade club. Trade club card link below from abs.

car has only done 55k we have had from 3 years old and we have used for towing twice but but untill recently car was used daily for work and would have to go over speend ramps that are 20mph limity so supose wiffey was hitting them a littel hard at times funy she was monning about a nocking noise at x mass but i could not get it to do it for me may have been spring giving up so as it a common thing will rule out second hand parts
all i needed today as found out need 4 tyres agine front pads and back suspension well at leasy its warming up
think ill ban her from driving me vecy 150 then dont wont me baby hurt

A small advice, although it is your choice.
Use Bilstein rather than KYB.
I've got both on the car and KYB is simply too soft for the rear end, and mig isn't heavy on the back but is rear wheel drive.
On mine Bilstein are on the front and KYB on the back, ideally it would be best if it was the oposite.

well after much looking round at prices ended up at byparts as they was not only best prices also listed heavy duty springs for a good prices as well where a lot of other wher double the price so should not have a problem with all the kids in back and wife in boot
not bad for les than £140 and a cpl of hour work top to do
just have to get traking done once agine and 2front tyres

I have broken rear springs too :( i only found out after my mechanic took the rear wheels off to replace the rear pads.
I was thinking of a lowering kit but i couldn't find any that lower the car less than 40mm which i think is too low (not unless someone knows a make that lower by 20mm). Might look at the Blistein's (thanks mathew).
Also i have leaky rear shocks too :-/ which i havn't had a quote for yet.
Oh and i need 4 new tyres. I brought Pirelli P Zeros when i got the car and they have worn pretty quick, a couple of people have told me they are quite soft so am looking for a harder set for next time.

wel once agine been looking round a tyre prices and the way the omegs tends to eat the im just gona go for buget ones
as my loacl tyre place can do a set for just over £200 fitted with tracking as well hes saying this is comon problem as if i did not know that was coming
butmay take car to get fully tested on traking once all new sprongs are dont as thinking of doing front as well at a later date
