Title: New Wishbones - What is recommended.
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 24 March 2010, 19:36:11
have read various threads in the past Which manufacurer is regarded as the best for replacement wishbones.

Also will they be the same on my 2.5 GLS and my 3.0 Elite (Both saloons & auto)

Got a feeling I had an advisery on the GLS when I sorned it a while ago  so as it's a slightly newer car with 20K less on it I was going to replace the pair of WB and have them rebushed (as I think that has also been talked about on the forum - and also with the nylon bushes)  Then I have a reconditioned pair if the Elite needs any.

TIA   :y

Just dont want to fit cheap nasty parts any more, but then again, dont want to pay the dealers prices.

That's my plan too!

A pair of Lemforder arms rebushed with Powerflex jobbies on the forward end.
Then a trip to WIM for the full works!

About three times the price, not sure if they're on TC.  I spend too much time reading threads on OOF and remembering stuff like this  :-X.

I bought some cheap ones 8 months ago from motor factors. Stopped the tram linning but now its back. On inspection there is play in front bushes (soft rubber bush)so im going to replace with nylon ones from powerflex. They only seem to do the front wishbone bush so it must be a common fault ???.

They also do the 'anti-roll bar' bushes. Well worth doing them too.  :y

Both my Carltons had to have the rear donut bushes done, living with the car hadnt realised it had deteriorated, but was peed off the the metalic clicky noise the inner metal tube made on the maount.  Had the pair done and it made a hell of a difference.

Makes me wonder what is worth changeing on the Miggy and if bushes are worth going the extra step to powerflex bushed.

Dont want to lower the car but would like to take some of the "wallowing " out of the Elite with out radical exspence.

What a decent chap he is to speak to, have had a good chat about the wish bones and other parts, Jason even thinks he may have a connection regards power flex bushes.   Even had a chat regards suppliers for replacement rocker cover gaskets but I cant remember the company that makes tthem.

Hopefully Jason may join the forum so keep an eye out for him.  :y

Just fitted QH wishbones to mine for the MOT retest. Bedford Battery came out at about £95 inc vat for the pair. Seem ok quality wise, but speed was of the essence, needed same day.

Had another chat with (Jason who I shall be getting a pair of wishbones from as his prices are excellent.) regards a parts for a VW Golf

Got chatting and it seems between himself and another friend of his they trade with a lot of top brands.

So with out taking up all his time away from other customers I was going to ask him for prices on all the common parts required to to sort my cars out (Hence the reason for this post).

I am having a pair of wishbones for the Elite and intend to rebush them for the GLS, then upgrade the suspenton, making it stiffer and lower, low profile tyres will be added at a later date to suitable wheels as will a SS performance exhaust.(All on the GLS)

Now the GLS allthough low mileage has allways pulled slightly to the left, and I know from invoices it has suffered one broken rear spring in the past.  so as I want to improve the handling, I might as well price all relative parts including TRE, droplinks and any bushes.

My idea is if we can make a list of common replacement parts then I will email him for prices and post them on here, unless of course Jason posts them here himself.

Jasons friend may also deal in bilstein shockers but is not aware of him dealing in the stenmitz springs

As I say, just a thought and trying to save Jason some time, plus of course not forgetting V6 VXl for the original contact  :y
