I have a question...
Is the back box from a facelift 2.2 the same as a 2.5/3.0. The box that i am talking about is the twin entry single exit one...

The 2.5 and 3.0 are V6 engines and the 2.2 is a 4 pot I think so why would you have twin pipes on a 4 pot engine. Am I correct with this one lads.

Hi, My 2.2 has a twin-pipe entry into the back box with a single tailpipe. I couldn't say if it was the same box as a 6-pot though. Some Boffin on here will answer this before long I'm sure. :y

The 2.2 and 2.5/2.6 are exactly the same from MY `00. The book shows that the 3.0 is different

Someone rang? ;D
2.2 has dual centre sections just like V6, and have dual pipes into back box. It should fit!
3.0 one will show as different i think due to twin exit pipes, its a quite a bit more expensive than 2.5/2.6 box.

This next photo may shed some light on a 2.2 having split pipes...

If you want it to look cosmetically better with twin tail pipes, as you have a facelift would it not be the 3.2 back box that you require, or is it because you have access to a 2.5/3.0 back box? I've fitted 3.0 back box to 2.5 before and there were no problems there but I seem to remember that the guys on here said that facelift bumper requires the longer tail pipes of the 3.2 back box.
Correct me if i'm wrong as maybe this only applies to the estate version as it goes in a bumper cut-out. :-/
EDIT: Doh! Just remembered that early facelift were 2.5 & 3.0
Note to self: Engage brain ::)

I recently removed an Irmscher back box from a 2.2 facelift and fitted it onto a 2.6 facelift, so yes the 2.2 is the same entry into the back box as a 2.6

I too replaced my backbox on my 2.5 with a sebring box, not that the original one was knackered, i just fancied reliving my youth & bought it off ebay for £40 (£425 new! & a life time guarantee!) :y
Cost me £30 to get it welded on & looks/sounds the bees knees without it being too over the top sound wise like a cherry bomb :o
Looking forward to hearing that note again once my cars ''illness'' has been diagnosed :'(
