Title: runs fine untill warm
Post by: scott456 on 14 May 2010, 23:59:46
hi i am new to the forum and have a problem with my omega and hope some of you guys can help,ok my omega runs fine until its warm and then starts to produce white smoke and judder, it has been juddering for about 2 weeks now but the smoke only started after i repaired my exhaust which had a hole in it. it recently had a new hbv put on as it was leaking water, it does not overheat and ive had the headgasket tests done and its not that, its a 99 3.0 omega elite, any help or ideas will be much appreciated

did you drain the exhaust when it was fixed, and do you park up on hill or incline rear end up?? on incline water sits in the cat and gives white smoke 20-30min on a run should remove it. mine stopped when drive was reset level again.

thanx for your reply, i dont park on an incline but i didnt drain the exhaust so thats probably the prob i will take it for a long run and see if that helps, you mentioned drive being reset level what does that mean lol

This thread interests me!

I have had the exact same problems since it started getting warmer(and more rain as well).

It starts good, runs fine until its hot, then it either just misses a beat and the engine light turns up on my dashboard. After that i cant restart it nicely, it will start after a couple of seconds turning, but the light will say lit(orange engine one).

I went to a garage, he changed the gaskets for the spark plugs, the gaskets for the plastic valve cam cover, changed spark plugs, oil+filter and air filter. No change :(

I am going tomorow to have it plugged in and get error codes(i have my doubts..) what do you guys think it could be? im poor and desperate lol >.<

thanks guys but i found the problems,ok it is loseing water coz of a split pipe, the steam from the exhuast is condensation and the cats are knackered and the misfireing is because the leaking water has caused the dis pack to fail so if you suffer simular symptons check these problems first before a garage trys to tell you head gasket failer

hi rafgas i had a crankshaft sensor go and the car either stalls, starts and stops after a short while or the car just wont start, but the eml light wont come on for that, so you might have to change the sensor but i think your car has other issues.
