On the way home from work this morning stopped at a set traffic lights at some roadworks pulled away and whilst going through the chicane the airbag light came on for no apparent reason now it won't go off. If you turn the ignition on all the warning lights come on and clear as normal but the airbag light comes back on after a couple of seconds >:(
Anybody got any ideas as to whats going on there ?
Couldn't have happened any other weekend but i need the car on Sunday

There's a fault somewhere within the air bag system ::) you'll need a code reader to find out exactly what. You can still use the car on Sunday, but if you crash you won't have an airbag ....... but we all managed for years without them. :y

Will a code reader tell where the fault lies exactly or just identify a general airbag fault ?
Will any code reader do or is it Tech2 only ?
-
yes most likely is that the sensor got excited and signalled a fault which will cause the light to stay on forever until it is cleared with a tech2, probably a case of finding the problem sensor, unplugging, replugging and then having the tech 2 turn the light off, and then it will probably never come on again, well fingers crossed anyways :)

Could possibly be the steering wheel airbag thinking about it.
I adjusted the steering wheel height when i was stopped at the traffic lights and when i moved off the adjuster clicked into one of the locating notches and a few seconds later the airbag light came on.
Where abouts would i find the steering wheel airbag sensor and is it easy to get at ?
-
I wouldnt bother looking, chances are the fault has been and gone.
but once the airbag ecu sees a fault, the light is on (and protection off) until you reset with tech2, "My Naff Code Reader" or similar.
Theboy is close to your area with a tech2, could be worth getting in touch.
(due to a very weird fault, my airbag light is on more than its off, you can get used to the light, and miss it when its not there ;D )

No point guessing what it is, it needs to go on a code reader to discover why the light is on.

Would you be available to have a quick look on Saturday ?
