Front Wheels....lots of play 3-9 o clock, poss a little 12-6...

Steering idler?

track rod ends or centre tie rod to idler  :-/  :-/  :-/

Yes or track rod ends.....idler is easy as you will be able to observe the play

cheers, got an idler in stock...will check for play 1st though.

Both sides about the same.

Not related then.......as the idler will not result in play on the drivers side.

Just jack them up and wiggle whilst observing where the lost motion is

ok, will do, cheers.

didnt pay an awful lot of attention but the rod going under the car was certainly wobbling with the movement.

steering idler doesnt really move, track rods ends move a bit, and can be wiggled on their own.

Think its wishbones.

wishbone play pivots further inboard, steering axis play will be rod play ime.

Do we need a "Jimbobs new car" section?  ;)  ;D :y

lol. i have got a few threads on the go...

had a few evenings...and a list of car jobs to start on  :y

can almost 'twist' the drivers wheel on its axis  :-/

on my old car, track rod movement seems the same, but the wheel is pretty solid.  :-/

Wishbones probably, chances are they need doing anyway tbh. Another one on the list. :)

aye, list getting bigger  :'(

still can get it all done and right before swapping my insurance over  and putting it on the road.

She drove nice with the bits I know need doing, really looking forward to it all being done.

There will be a thermostat thread too soon...cant see how the hell to get it out  ;D  but thats for another day / week  :y

Aw bastuard bolt time, oil cooler re seal and oil cooler pipes battle for good measure?  :-X

b bolt yes, oil cooler looks perfect, ill cross that bridge if I ever have too  :y
