hi again new guy looking for more info from you wiser guys.the engine on my v6 is out my omega just now for mechanic m8 to do some work on.as i was looking at all the hoses parts etc i noticed the breather pipes were all gunky.is their anything else i could be looking to clean and sort out.cheers

while it's out check the cam cover gaskets. easy way to check is to remove the spark plugs and if the wells are full of oil the cam cover gaskets need replacing. You may as well do the  cambelt/tensioners/pulleys and waterpump.

 Could also check the oil cooler and coolant bridge (involves taking plenun off) hth

cheers m8 ive been popping in and out for a few days trying to scour for info on cleaning and things i may need.the mechanic thats doing the job is only replacing core plug and putting engine bk in.im not mechanicly minded so trying things of here and diagrams.hate to think wot damage ive added lol

Change the exhasut manifold gaskets....genuirne Vx multilayer metal gaskets only mind.

I would re-seal the oil cooler and stat to.

I would take the breather box off the back of the engine and give it a good clean out. Possibly with a caustic soda solution. Make sure its properly rinsed out before replacing it.

I wouldn't bother using caustic soda on an aluminium casting. You would probably end up with just a hard lump of crud and no breather box ::)

They cost about £40 IIRC. Money well spent I thought :y
