Title: Intruder Alarms sounds when front wheels hit bump
Post by: MV6Matt on 01 June 2010, 15:17:20
Don't know if it's coincidence, but since having new A/C condenser fitted some weeks ago, every time a drive the car and go over a small hole/bump etc, the alarm goes off.

Never happened before in 6 years of owning the car, so understandably could be an ageing thing.
However, given that Cool Car man didn't know where everything went when replacing components, it may be related? (haven't had any dash board lights on either)

Goes for about a minute and then stops. Not too much of a problem when you driving, but it did it today when parking and closing the door. It didn't react to locking and unlocking - just had to wait for it to stop.

Paper clipping it is an obvious starting point, I guess, but what else should I be looking for and where? :-/

(This is not the horn activated alarm under the bonnet - but the electronic 'whoo-whoo-whoo' one if that helps to distinguish the two!) If you get my drift  :-[

All suggestions gratefully received

Are you sure its the Alarm sounder and not the horn. The reason i ask is i had the same thing the other week where the horn would go off when you closed the doors or went over a bump.

It turned out to the be the horn wiring had chaffed on the horn bracket and and a jolt was enough to make the wires earth out.

My car is a pre face lift with front fogs but i managed to get to the horn and wiring via the vent panel next to the fog lamp on the passangers side

Hope that helps

Andy

.............Just Paper-clipped and got a 12 (which must be a 21 as there isn't a 12). So , nothing that indicates anything that to do with alarm faults.

Where should I start looking?

All help gratefully received (as always)

Woo woo could be the powersounder.

Several options - #1 remove and put it in sand bucket!

(I wonder if your alarm will start going off when parked up)
