Title: brake pulling
Post by: blue_dream on 05 June 2010, 21:44:00
Evening guys
Can anybody help, have a 25 v6 estate, have a problem under braking, steering pull to the left, has new dices 298 and pads along with wishbones and drop links and new brake calipers all round, spring and shock fine, checked wheel aligment and camber fine, change wheels still a pull.
Any ideas guys, next will be to change the flex brake hose, maybe broken inside causing blockage to the driver side  :( :(

worn wishbone bushes?

Why did you need new brake calipers all round?

 Hi Andy
Just wanted to to carry out brake overhaul, able to obtain calipers and other brake parts at a great price, car has been fine for the past 10 months approx but now has started to pull under braking, have taken car up tp 45 mph and slammed brake pedal on, ABS kicks in  :(
  Wishbones replaced approxley 6 months ago  :( :( :(

Not from Autovaux are they?  ::)

ABS should kick in if road surface is bad...

check for play in wishbones, get a big screw drive or crow bar, pop it in between the wishbone and chassis and see if there is much flex in it on both sides. Also check calipers are not seized, and steering idler arm is ok  :y

Simon, check for play in the wishbone bushes.

It sounds like the wishbone is "kicking out" under braking.

Can you remember if the wishbone bolts were tightened with the car off the ground or not?

fit lemforder wishbones, a pair, torque the bolts to 120nm plus 30° plus 15° with the wheels loaded car on the ground. May need to tighten as much as possible on the ground then re jack the car to tighten the rest.

This assumes there is no brake in balance, sticking caliper, slider, piston etc
