Post by: RobG on 17 June 2010, 17:30:12
Any recommendations as to the best place to source a/c condenser/drier unit. TIA :) Assuming it`s a straightforward in/out job :-/

Just got one this week fitted it yesterday all in 3-3.5 hours as you have to take the rad out. got mine for £101.84 from AutoAirConParts(tradeing as cool car Ltd) That was for the condenser and drier paid online 08:30 Tuesday and was on my door step by about 09:30 wednesday all I need now is a pressure test and re-gas. was told £290 for Hall auto electrical to do the job. Oh yea dealer want £250 + vat for the condenser alone. :y

Forgot to say Dave Marshall on here has a secondhand one off a 2.6 for £20 plus postage as I had ordered a new one by the time he got back to me have not had it of him. Mine was for a 3.2 but I think they are the same. :y

Where did you get that price from. Site states £29.95 for receiver/drier and £86.67 for the condenser both plus vat = £140.02 :-/

Had the A/C chap out today. Spent 90 minutes doing a thorough check of the whole system then when he done the sniffer test using the nitrogen mix the probe went haywire when he stuck it behind the front fan. Said the common leak area is behind the centre of the fan on most condensers. Only charges £25 for a complete diagnostic check whether he`s there for 30 minutes or 3 hours then the choice is yours whether you want to DIY or let him do it. When I fit the new condenser (may as well renew the drier while there) he`ll come back, regas, re-oil and stick the UV dye in, all for £50

£50 is a good price for the test and re-gas think they said about £56 to do mine but have to get done Monday as I'm on duty all weekend. My price was for condenser and drier. Looked down there list for 3.2 and it said£86.67 there part No. was AACP16-6554-18237. If that helps :y

That`s what I was looking at. Shows the drier/receiver in the pic as well but the description only states the condenser. Better give `em a bell tomorrow to clarify. You may have struck lucky Joff `cause it appears that the condenser and drier are two seperately priced items

I use these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OMEGA-B-CONDENSER-RADIATOR-RECEIVER-DRIER-16-6554-/320452923600?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4a9c7b90d0

On the omega it is the bottom that pretty much falls off that is the common failure.
