My local VX dealer told me there was a small hole in the exhaust of my 2.2 CD auto saloon back in March when the car was in for a new sensor. I've just noticed that it's now in two parts - the bit in front of the silencer is hanging down.
Any ideas how much this might cost to put right and should I go back to the Vauxhall garage (who are excellent) or try a local independent garage?
Any advice gratefully received thanks.

Dealers will be very expensive and listening to others commenting the exhausts aren't up to much these days.
Try Eternal for prices then fit it or get it fitted. Kwik Fit fitted mine for £30 cash.....

Do you intend to keep the car for a few years yet?
If so, go for a stainless system. You should look here (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1276626229/13#13)

Is this the bit before the cat or after the cat...or before the back box

Yes I plan to keep the car for another four years at least, provided nothing major goes wrong.
Not being very good with the technical bits on cars, I have had it looked at now and apparently it requires the back section and the two sections in front of that. Does this make sense?

Go stainless if that`s the case. These are a decent company, not sure how far from you though http://www.infinity-exhausts.co.uk/

Just for reference; I replaced my original back box with one from Eternalcar nearly three and a half years ago and it still appears fine. Yesterday I ordered a complete system (cats back) as my original centre sections have about had it. I expect to fit them next weekend and so will get a look inside the old back box then, but I don’t foresee any problems preventing it from having lasted at least four years, hence my decision to return to Eternalcar (coupled with the age of my car of cause ;)).

http://www.cats-direct-shop.co.uk try these for your exhaust components and get someone to fit it, National Tyres are preety good, the one here will do it cheap off the books!

I don't think eternalcar do a system for the 2.2, I tried to find one on thier site and couldn't. :-/

Thanks for this Rob. I enquired via their website and got an e-mail quote the next day. Like for like was more expensive than Vauxhall so I have gone for a VX system. They did quote for replacing the two pipes in front of the back section with a Y pipe, which was a bit cheaper. Would this be a modification for insurance purposes do you know?
