Title: mot failure

on my project car,a 2.2dti omega its failed on centre steering arm as relative movement at its fixings(2.2.b.1h)I was about to order a centre tie bar,but upon reading it again im unsure what he means :-/ :-/

think it means the steering arm bit that looks like the idler, give it a pull see if it is should not move up or down.

Difficult to say for sure as each tester will call it something different  but its probably the idler arm.  Best suggestion is to get under the car and have a look. If your lucky hes marked it.  If not you could always ask the tester what bit he means. If you have the ability to check yourself  jack the front up and check the bar  and all joins to see what one has play (none of them should have any play).

i will get under it and have a bit play,when he said centre i assumed centre tie bar,but upon reading the fail sheet,it needs futher investgation :-/ :-/

very slight movement in tie bar, the joint that fixes to the idler.so today i got on with the job and broke my steering idler virginty(failed last time,put it back together and took it to the garage)  :y :y :y

just be glad you didn't have to change the wishbones-now theres a fun job!! especially on the drive in the snow!
