Title: Need a little diagnosis - engine temp
Post by: lozzy on 23 June 2010, 23:55:53
hi all need to know id this is a problem my omega has been running quite hot recently now i know the weather is alot hotter this is what happens

when i first start up about 5 mins in to my journey the car starts to warm up reaches 90 on the gauge then drops down  shortly after id assume the stat opens up ?

now when driving along the temperature sits between 90 and the next mark 92? when pulling of the motorway within about a minute or 2 its at fan kicking in temperature the same also happens if a car is on front of me its seems the temperature will only drop down when cruising along not working the engine

no coolant has been lost could there be a blockage ?

Had the needle pushing over 100 yesterday on mine (mini-facelift) :o :o

Not normally a good thing but I know my gauge over-reads by about 6 degrees (confirmed by Tech 2 Live Data) and the outside temp was reading 36 degrees where we were stationary in a queue :o :o

Oh... And it was working hard with a lot of weight in the back as I had the refreshments for a function this weekend ::)

Should add, the fans were kicking in properly and it soon dropped back down :y

I  think it's time for you to do a thorough cleaning to the rad.

Never any harm doing a good flush... Mine was only done about 10 months ago and I know for a fact that the gauge is over reading so not a concern for me :y
