For once, I'm not posting about a problem I need solving :).
Just wondering if anyone's had a close look at a failed/noisy SAI pump?
I came across this "How to" on another forum:

I have a feeling that the pump on an Omega may be similar, and suffer the same fate. If so (if one can be bothered, I know it's not essential) this looks like a nice fix. :y
What does the forum think?

Simple cheap repair - looks worth a look and a try if problems with SAI pumps.

So the noise is simply down to the rivets going tits up?

Must get round to removing my pump. Discovered the one-way valve had failed when I did the cambelt so unplugged the unit and blocked the rubber sections on the pipes from the manifolds with, er, well you don't want to know! Wondered what could have caused the hose to split and it was all the hot air being blown back! I guess this sytem has a marginal benefit when it works and the car is new but these days it's just in the way!

you can just unplug it though cant you, leave it connected but unplug the power connector without blocking off the pipes?

Cool thanks. I will look at that - although it sounds exactly like bearings about to disintergrate :-)
