Title: Air con not cold enough
Post by: Goonybird on 25 June 2010, 19:27:45
Lately my aircon hasn't been as cold as it used to be, even on Lo setting. So I guess it will need regassing.
So do I take it to one of the many purveyors to regas it,
Or do I do it myself, and if so how?

I'll be changing my condenser shortly (due to a leak), after that I'll take the car to a local specialist - not Quick Fit or the like -  to have the system vacuumed, pressure tested and charged with the correct type and quantity of refrigerant.

On the quantity of fluid required alone, I don't think it's a successful DIY project. :y

Den, changed mine yesterday. Instead of disconnecting gearbox cooler pipes @ the rubber hoses I found it a lot easier to undo the torx @ the union block @ the top L/H side of rad and tuck the pipes out of the way but make sure you remove the 2 small O-rings on the "block" at the end of the metal pipes

I'm with Zulu on this one, or better still get a mobile air-con specialist to come to you and test/vacuum/refill the system. Shouldn't cost any more than Kwik-fitup.

Per PM Rob, that does make sense - can't wait to get the hands dirty again 8-) :y
