Hello
Anyone who knows if it's possible to retrofit fog lights on a 1997 mod? Will they fit in to the small "grills" in the bumper?
-
You will need to replace the grills with ones from a car with foglights, so you need the foglight, smaller grills and the headlight switch with two foglight buttons ;)
-
Thanks for a quick reply. Do you know anything about the wireing? Where to take the power from or if I need any relays for it?

Check behind the bumper, you will probably find the wiring is already there

The wiring should already be behind the bumper. So long as you get the foglights complete with there loom. I take it you have a GLS model?
-
I might even have a set including the grills and bits of loom if your interested ;)

Aha!! are you Stateside??
that might explain the model designation problem.

Daniel,
the grills are the same on all models. the front fogs sit inboard of the grills.
you can use your existing bumper, but you will need a different skin (the bit that is the colour of the car.
they are easy to swap over, or just pick up a complete front bumper with fogs in from salvage.
the wiring for the lights will all be there. As long as you have the switch under the the main light switch on the dash, all you need is a fuse in position 16 (from memory) in the fusebox under the steering wheel. There is no relay for the front fogs, which simplifies things.

Hi!
Thanks for the info. Will it be possible to cut out the holes for the fog lights in my existing bumper?
-
The actual bumper is universal and will accept the fog lights anyway. The skin would need to be cut, but you would have to do a very good job to make it look anything half decent. The lights are recessed and the bumper skin cut-out returns back to the lights (in the same way that it does around the grills). You can try it, but I would advise trying to get the correct skin.
