Could I ask all or some of you that have estate facelifts to check the height of the rear wheel arch. I have just done some work on the wife's old elite and checked the height when running as it has s/leveling and it's top height is approx 67cm. but mine an ex-plod 3.2 is at 71cm and the front arch is 69.5cm. At some point extra coil springs have been put on the plod on the rear. I am going to send a letter to the first owner who had it after the plod and ask if they put the extra coils in(yellow in colour with no markings). the ride on the plod is hard is this normal for an ex-plod The ex-plod does not have s/leveling any more. :-/

Been measuring the blinds yesterday, so had my tape handy and nipped out to measure the estate arches.
Mine measures
Rear 70cm
Front 68.5cm
Mine is the TD estate so has the 2.5 BMW lump, so may sit lower at the front. Don't know whether they have different shocks/springs up front. I guess should be standard estate estate set up at the rear, I've definately not changed the shocks/springs from standard in my ownership, so all standard.
It's a CD spec, so no self levelling.

Thanks all so far looks like it's the plod that's differant so will have to look in to this a bit more. Any ex-plod estate drivers out there and if so what is the height of your rear wheel arch :-?

Joff...
Some Police forces fitted stiffer springs to compensate for the load of equipment the estate had to carry on motorway duties, i.e cones, signs, lights, barriers, etc.etc. JoshWyatt or Simon Omega will tell you where yours came from and what it did......
My old Ford Explorer ex-plod for instance was an armed response unit, and had gun racks and safes in the back, with 4x officers and riot/firearms gear so had big brakes and hard suspension fitted.
Unless you think it is "too high" wouldn't worry about it!

Just measured mine, 68.5cm rear and 67.5cm front, all measurements taken vertically through hub centre line :y
