Title: Towing, Car needs to get to a garage?
Post by: marcbucks on 14 July 2010, 19:44:59
Hi,
Very quick question.
I need to get my old Omega 2.5 V6 auto T(99 plate) about 7 miles to a reputable garage.
If i remember there is a oil pump that you can damage if you try towing Automatics!
Is it really bad to tow it?
I'm just trying to think of cheap ways of getting my dead Omega to the garage without needing to call out a recovery service and paying £40 quid for privilege.
Many Thanks,
Marc.

drop prop at the diff then tow :y
you can tow for 50 miles no faster than 20mph.but top option is the best :y

You'll be fine, just keep it below 20mph :y

iirc top speed when towing an auto is 30mph no more than 50 miles. You will be fine towing the car 7 miles without disconnecting the prop. If you are travrlling more than 50 miles then you can either disconnect the prop or lift the rear wheels off the road.
