Title: loud, noisy vibrating sound coming from engine

I have a 2002 Vauxhall Omega Elite.  A salvaged engine has just been put in, fine for about 3 weeks then started to make an awful rattling sound as if it was about to blow up.
The management light stays on, and my mechanic has had it diagnostically tested about 4 times and apparrently it is
not electrical.  Some suggested it might be the hydraulic airlifters.  Please help.

Might be helpful if you could tell us a bit more about the car, like engine size and whether its petrol/diesel etc.

When was the cam belt last changed?  Was it when you put the engine in? ;) ;)

Get a new mechanic.

The light is telling you something ... and it sounds like you have been ignoring it .. :(

I just hope it is not terminal ... engine type/size, codes would be helpful .. :)

It is a 3.2 petrol engine.  The noise only happens when the engine is hot.  The engine model number is Y32 SE.
