Title: Lotus Omega modification
Post by: Lesopc on 20 July 2010, 23:25:15
Does anyone have any bright ideas of how to balance the front heavy configuration of a miggy with a heavy straight 6 lump, i mean short of loading the boot with bricks or cement bags?????
As pointed out, and rightly so, this would have a dramatic effect on the handling.

Fit the Lotus front suspension set up - IIRC fits straight in as Senator/Carlton/Omega A and Omega B floorpan damn near identical.

You got very deep pockets?

To buy an LC/LO then break it to build summat like this won't come cheap or be easy. :o

No i am not minted (not now anyway). I am a small man with BIG ideas for the future. I would rather this than see a potential classic go to the crusher in years down the line.

there's not that much difference between the front weight of an Omega B (V6) and an Omega A (S6) - I've weighed both recently.

lightest of the three I measured was the LS1-powered car.

Lotus  Carlton front suspension is pretty darn similar to what you already have.

Strut is the same, apart from the top washer.
wishbone is very similar, apart from having plates welded on to place the outer ball joint 8mm further out.
anti-roll bar is the same

but you wouldn't start with that recipe anyway, you'd go for :-

Koni adjustable insert.
standard springs
non-Elite wishbone bushes

unless you want to get radical, in which case the first target has to be the steering box
