Noticed that the air recirculation valve wasnt working. Neither is the air direction switches. 95 model with manual heater controls. Checked the blue vacum hose to the recirulation valve, and no vacum. No hissing noises in the dash. The weird thing is that the vacum sometimes returns. Then everything works. (direction buttons and recirculation.) the next minute it can dissapear again. vacum huse from brake servo to vacum tank has constant vacum. What could cause the vacum to come and go?

Happened to me too after fitting a new stereo. Cables and head unit compressed the hoses so it got blocked. Could be such an easy fix ::)

Check vac pipes where they go through the bulkhead near to heater hoses there are two, one comes from the vac tank under scuttle near to pollen filter, the other from the heater bypass valve, the vac tank is feed from a T piece on large brake servo pipe

checked alittle today and there was many problems:P Vac feed to front multiram had broken off, vac feed to air injection thingy had broken off. Vac feed and vac out on rear multiram was switched around. Consulted the drawing in the maintenance section. I Have vacum in tha vac tank but thats about it. blocked the hose that goes to the t piece who feeds the multirams, so that i only had vac hose from brake servo to vac tank and from the tank to heater controls and to heater bypass valve. Still no vac in dashboard. >:( But it does work sometimes. (such as this morning) must check the heater bypass valve next i think...

Finally solved it :) After fixing all the broken connections and wrong connections i found that the heater bypass valve is actually removed. And the smart guy ho did it had just hidden the vacuum hose to it under some trim and left it open. Thats why the problem wanst constant. In the mornings when i have the heat on everything is fine cause the vac feed to the non existing heater bypass valve is then shut off. In the day when i turn the dials to cold the vac feed thats supposed to go to the hbv comes to life and all the vacuum leaks out and nothing works. Have ordered a new valve from Opel and plugged the vac hose for now. Finally all is well :)
