Had crank sensor changed today at a cost of £111.00. Car runs perfectly but no matter what the mechanic did the 19 error code will not disappear. In fairness most likely after market sensor and non vauxhall code reader. Any thoughts.

:o :o :o
Most cheapo tech2's can reset codes, it should not come back :y

In fairness, if she continues to run well I'm not that bothered if it shows a fault code on a code reader or not. Seem to remember my wifes Vectra had a fault code generated a year before and that too ran fine.

My experience is that a code 19 will always be present if the engine isn't running (you won't get pulses of the crank when its not turning). Start her up and re-read.

Hmmmmmmmm ! Now thats an interesting one....and booger me...can't remember if the engine was runnin' or not when he read the codes in front of me.
OOOOOO well ! Lets see how it goes...Gulp !!!

If the engine is not running, then you get a 30 something code.

Hmm.. My car gives me a 19 when engine is stopped, but goes away when started. Same with my mates 4 pot :-?
Guess they're both on their way out then.

I've ever done the paper clip test other than a few months ago when the car died showing all the symptoms of a failed crank sensor. I got a code 19 but didn't check again when it was replaced. :-/

I've had a code 19 for 18 months and 2 different sensors... Never went away but runs fine ::) ::)

He he he...THAT'S go enough for me Paul. Thk u.

Not saying yours will be the same but, as you know, mine runs fine :y :y

For clarity...
19 - Incorrect rpm signal - fubar crank sensor
31 - No RPM signal - engine not running
I would try to get that code cleared, then see what comes back. And we say genuine crank sensors for a reason ;)

Eledgedly he cleared the code, went for a run without incident and the code was back. ONLY got her back tonight so I'll see how it goes, if at all, over the next couple of days.
Hopefully it will replicate LD's car and won't give a stuff whether the code is showing up or not.

We've cleared mine a few times now and it still comes back. The Master has suggested I re-fit it to see if it makes a difference. For clarity, I have a Genuine Vx sensor fitted and the previous one was an identical Bosch sensor (with the Vx Part Number stamped on it!) as it was all that was available at the time.

£111 for a non gen crank sensor fitted - thieving shits!

He he he..MIGHT be a VX one...I don't know for sure..but she got me safely to Ipswich today...so far so good.
Got to get me to Heathrow in 2 weeks, off on my hols..Gulp !!!
