Just noticed that new GM pads have 2 different surface for the front pads.
1 side has a rectangle cut out in a piece of glued on fabric....other side is just plain metal with part numbers on.
Question is which side should face the piston ?

pad with the rubber on goes on the outside iirc :y
-
That seems to make sense as metal piston is then against metal only .Just wanted to check as didn,t notice that before when changed last time.

Pad with plain metal backing against caliper piston, rubber backing against caliper "cage" HTH :y
-
put a bit of copper slip around the edge of that pads, where it sits in the calliper, and again on the pad where the piston pushes the pads. stops them squeaking :y
-
All done /sorted and jobs a good,n.Never noticed different faces of pads last time round so must have just been luck.
All copper greased up Tunnie so no nasty noises.
Other strange thing with new pads is the brake pad wear sensor little pegs would not fit into new pads howeevr hard I tried .wiggled about and then ended up snapping 1 in half so only 1 now connected but as no light and always replace pads at about 20k miles never really an issue.
Any body else had that problem with peg not refitting.?
Big thanks Weds for offer but bought them this morning while in Dartford so if I had seen your kind offer first I would have saved the detour from A2.thanks agin though.
