Hi Guys how do i go about changing the fuel filter do i need anything special or should i be doing anything special or is it unscrew and screw back up
-
generally i always fill the fuel filter with diesel prior to refitting.
warm the engine before removal for an easy re-start.
usually there is a bleed screw on top of the filter housing and a primer pump/ bulb for bleeding out the air.
im sure someone will add more vehicle specific detail soon.

I find it easier to remove the whole unit (mounting bracket) from the inner wing.
It comes out easier this way, just undo the two bolts and disconnect the two fuel pipes, and elec connection. You can then easily reseat the new filter onto the top ring, bit fiddly for me when fixed to the wing.
Fill the new filter with diesel magic (Halfords) it will clean the injectors when you start up, give it a good. blast.
Mine never needed priming, just refit connect up and go :y

do i need to take the fuse out of the fuel pump to take the pressure off like you need to in a petrol car
-
No (and don't need to on petrol ones either)

I just unscrew old get hold of carrier or mounting bracket and lift it slightly to get old filter off, fill new filter with diesel magic and diesel, again lift mounting with a good hard tug slip new filter on and do up, but when you unscrew the old filter just check the heater ring didnt come loose!! if it did tighten it before replacing new filter or you will have an airleak!! :y
