Title: Hot engine... cold radiator
Post by: Rizo on 30 July 2010, 22:22:00
Oil cooler blew and well you all know the rest  :-[

Rebuilt using s/s oil cooler, new gaskets, thermstat, water pump, timing belt kit, removed the SAI

Flushed the block and heater matrix.

removed rad and flushed. soaked over 72hrs with a proper bio cleaner for oil sludge yet upon refiting it still over heats and over pressurises.

red hot pipes and stone cold rad apart from a slight warm patch up top.

Did compression test and came back at 210-225 across all 6 pots, took 3 cranks to get this figure... not bad for 170k  :o

so is my rad shot? i reckon its blocked with rust/sludge still

Second hand rad is an option.

I find reverse flushing, soaking in a good cleaner (even traffic film remover or washing powder works!) and then repeat....do a few times and they normaly come good
