Title: Modifications to Omega facelift
Post by: rajveer.sandhu on 03 August 2010, 14:52:58
What sort of modifications can be made to an Omega?
Can the left wing mirror auto dip when reverse gear is engaged?
Can the Traffic master button be used to activate the central locking by re-wiring it (I did this to my Vectra B)?
Can you, by holding down the unlock button on the key fob, make all the windows open fully (opposite of keeping the lock button held down to close everything)?

Im just trying to find people (and guides) on how i can mod. my omega to make it more 'luxurious'.
Any ideas/suggestions?

I'm pretty sure you'll be the first to try all these mods

Your 3.0 Elite should already have it ;)

Sorry, was dipping in and out of two conversations...
I meant getting a LHD drivers seats with memory functions, and replacing the passenger side seat with it.
So both Driver and Passenger seats have Memory Functions.

Ive just been looking in the Omega Manual.
It seems some omegas where fitted with a button that when pressed folded the wing mirrors in.

Does anybody know of this feature?

"Can the Traffic master button be used to activate the central locking by re-wiring it"

Well the following works on my facelift model, not sure if it's the same for the preface models ?.

If you're after just looking the central locking once you're in the car, by just pressing down the door pin on the drivers door (near the rear of the door / window) should activate the other locks, and lifting it up will unlock them.
Though unfortunately when you switch the ignition off it doesn't automatically unlock them ?.

Is that what you're after ??.

Works on my pre-facelift as I have caught it a few times with my elbow and wondered why I couldn't get out of my car after I had turned the engine off!  :-X

I have seen a UK sec Omega with this option. It you look on youtube, you'll find a video taken by hansv6 I think showing the operation of the electric folding door mirrors. I'll find the link in a second.

OK cool guys thanks.

The Omega manual I was looking in was a RHD UK manual.
(Maybe it was a generic printing thing? - although they had part of the steering wheel drawn in also??)

generic printing and manuals being printed way before the cars are released to the market, that's why some things are never available.

Should be able to retro-fit the folding mirrors to any omega despite on what side the steering wheel is... The problem is that the parts are extremely rare... might be easier to utilize folding motors from another brand... but then it will not be original anymore.
