Title: brake pads
Post by: Fazeel on 10 August 2010, 23:00:24
the brakes on my car have started to sort of screech a little, and when im going fast ( around 100 - 110 miles ) and I press the brake, they feel quite hard, and the effect isnt quite strong either, plus they also vibrate a little ( the brakes, not the tyres )

Im guessing its the brake pads, but i dont know which ones, i mean front or rear ??

Secondly how do i check the brake fluid, because I think its also low ??

heavy braking will cook the brake pad material (turning it ginger) and start to squeal. the vibration is corroded/ warped brake discs.

i think an upgrade is necessary if those kind of speeds are a regular!

replace the brake fluid as well is probably steam..

Search 'eBay.co.uk'.  Look for a 'Haynes Manual' for the Vauxhall Omega.  Make sure the seller will post worldwide.

For about £35, you'll have the equivalent of a Holy Book of your car when it comes to general maintenance.  :y

so the vibration is brake discs, hmmm,
Cant I do anything about that ??

apart from replacing them, cause replacement would be a bit expensive, but im sure going to replace the pads.

And can someone tell me where the check the brake since i hardly ever open the bonnet, so i dont know where it is, plus its not labeled or anything, and also tell me how much it should be ??

Generally speaking, it's also the age where you are inexperienced, and cause death and devastation.

I am certainly not preaching, as I did the same, and to an extent (much lesser extent) still stretch the old-girls legs, when clear and 'safe' (safer) to do so....

Just be careful!
