Time to 'bite the bullet' and change the belt etc... I have the excellent DVD and feel confident!
Questions first - Where is it best to buy the belt kit - VX, reputable motor factor? Do I need to use a genuine VX kit? Does anyone have a decent locking kit available to borrow / hire?
-
Skf, conti tech, and another escapes me, are all oe suppliers to gm, buy parts buy ? Ont web?
-
Will buy an oe kit from my local factors, thanks for the advice.
Anyone able to help with a locking kit? :)

Whatever you do mate don't attempt your cambelt unless you have the proper Cam Locking Kit.
I have seen hundreds withn Tipex over the Cam Sprockets and Crank with Timing Miles out.

This was the 'tool' I used when I did the belt on my son's 1.6 clit, Renault seemed to have forgotten to put any timing marks on at all!
I think I need something a bit more substantial for my elite ;)

Thanks Darth, I have no intention of being so foolish, I am a 'belt n braces' man at heart. Or is it measure twice and cut once? ;)

No worries guys I recognised the joke, I will save the smiles for the next time I am laid across the engine trying to tease the coil pack from the back of the block and the big man decides that it is time to make it rain (I have an open air garage with zero shelter). ;)
But seriously I still need to source a locking kit.
