Post by: sport on 11 August 2010, 22:46:10
Hi i can not get any gears when engine cold when engine running but can only get gears when engine is turned off.
I have to start in gear and for the first 10 miles make sure i get in first before i stop otherwise i have to turn engine off to get any gears.
When driven at least 10 miles gears are ok
Have checked clutch level ok

Could well be that the clutch is dragging.

If you pump the clutch a few times does it then engage?

If you sit on level ground in 1st gear, brakes off and clutch fully depressed does it start to "creep" forwards?

Is the clutch smooth when taking up drive or does it judder?

Any sign of leakage of clutch fluid or oil from the bottom of the bellhousing?

If all looks well I would start by bleeding the clutch hydraulic system which must be done with a pressure bleeder "in reverse" by forcing fluid into the slave cylinder bleed nipple.
