put my 2001 2.6 mv6 in the garage today to go on diagnostics machine told neede a new crank sensor and that he had ordered the part (without asking me first) i then asked how much it was going to cost he said 130 all in as its a pig of a job is it me or does this sound to high surely a sensor isnt that much so it must be labour thanks.

Tell him to keep it! £50 for the crank sensor, £25 for me to fit it!

less than 30 minutes on a bad day .. an hour if you remove the scuttle to make it a tad easier access wise

they're not difficult to change, just make sure the cable is routed away from the exhaust. :y

As Entwood said just follow the guides on the forum, save yourself a shit load of money by not paying labour charges.
Changed the crank sensor on my 2.6 V6 a few weeks ago, I do not have alot of mechanical knowledge, but followed the guide. Took me about 30 minutes, only had one problem where the seal around the sensor was not seated correctly so started to leak oil. Reseated it and so far had no problems.
Just make sure when you route the lead for the new sensor across to the wing make sure it does not touch the pre cat as it passes quite close.
