Title: Getting the wheels off

hey guys,

the rears are getting a bit low so i thought id change them for the ones i have in the loft, question?

i looked at them today and they have the 4 bolts covered with plastic covers and then a shiny metal cap for the last one. my question is how do you remove the metal cap thingy, i have the metal tool that you need for the alloy wheels when i had the front tyres changed last year but i dont see how it helps, i assume i need to remove the metal cap to allow the metal tool to release the last bolt, how do i remove the metal cap? thanks very much

Your locking wheel nut kit will have had a specific tool for removing them. It was like a plastic nut with a hole in the back and a plastic peg that fitted through the hole. You pushed the plastic nut over the stainless cover to allow you to pull them off & then pushed it back out of the plactic nut with the peg.
I wounder if I still have mine somewhere .......... ?  :-/

How about slim long nose pliers? ...... They are just a push fit.  ;)

thanks Andy B, im remembering somthing matching your description in a plastic tray, oh dear where the heck is the plastic tray with all those bits and pieces, if i cant find it do you think the needle nose plies would work as ive got a pair of those?

I would think so.
I've just had a quick look in my garage, can't find mine either. I'm sure I haven't flung them, I tend to keep useless bits for years .......  ::) ::)

ok it turns out the perfect tool for the job is a pair of needle nose pliers, so im very happy, im looking forward to changing them now, gives me a chance to um, use up the life in the others lol
