Title: V6 Running Hot
Post by: star_whites on 21 August 2010, 17:56:40
Ok here's another update.

Have been out and about today and picked various things including my lifter treatment. Whilst sat waiting for the rain to stop we sat listening to the fans (yes I know that's sad) and we noticed that the main rad fan did not use fast speed at all. The slow speed came on and the air con fans did use slow and fast, but I am certain the main fan did not.

What can cause this, I have a new fan coming this week and am wondering if it's the fan switch. Is this the one in the radiator???

Any thoughts for Mr Whites? No experience with the fans personally...

iirc the upper fan switch in the rad just below top hose controls the cooling fan & the lower switch about half way down the rad on the same side controls the air con fans

Ok so I am best of replacing the top switch then. Are they also controlled by a relay?

How hot did the temperature gauge get?

I don't have a tester and wouldn't have a clue where to start with it if I did, so don't think I could check them to be honest.

Would it just be easier to swap the relays for known good ones.

Temp has been running between 95 and 100.
