Hello all, recently replaced my front discs and pads, now I want to do rears, just a few q's please! Why are they cheaper than the front ones (considerably). Could i get a cheap pattern part from ebay as I'm thinking they won't do nearly as much work as the front (therefore not liable to warping etc)? TC list them for £68.05, is that a good price? Should i just stick with VX despite the price? Thanks

Hi Andy B, thanks for your help. I was gonna replace the h/b shoes aswell. TC list the pads for £12 and the h/b shoes for £43, is that right? I would've thought it would've been the other way round? It's not looking cheap so far £68 for discs, £12 and £43, £123 for parts! Thanks

Thanks! Got the front ones from Autovaux and fitted them. Now i know Autovaux say 95% of their parts are VX and the rest are pattern, but when my front discs came they didn't say GM on the bag and there was no other name. So I'm assuming they must be pattern aswell (not too clever either). I fitted them all the same, so if they go duff, at least they will last me a while hopefully and I'll just replace them again.

You'll probably find the rear discs are cheaper than the fronts as they aren't vented.

Also the rear disks and pads are a lot smaller than the fronts....
I recently paid just over two hundred squid for disks and pads all round AND handbrake shoes AND two wishbones...

IIRC for some weird reason VX sell the rears as an axle pair with pads as a set, but the fronts you have to buy disks and pads seprately. Generally things that come in kits you get a package deal on.
No idea why they sell the fronts seperately as you wouldnt change just 1.

No they come as a set from Vx - 2 x discs + 2 x pads ~£70 on TC mate.

LOL, in my experience, Autovaux have 95% pattern and 5% genuine.
I personally avoid them now, they have pulled that stunt too many times with me now.

ah they must have changed it then, last time I had to do discs and pads all round the rears on TC were an axle set with pads but the fronts were seperate items and quite a bit more expensive.

Been like that for at least 3 years ;)
