In the 1st pic ive pointed out a wire which im not sure whats its for (1) and the sleve has perisised.
It runs to the connector in pic 2.
Anyone know what is it for and can I insulate it with normal electrical tape as its running over the head?

that wire is for one of your sensors
cant remeber exactly wich one its been ages since i had a you can insulate it but dont disconect as it will bring up a fault on the engine management

Crank sensor cable.
You could re-insulate it, but it may not fit in the little cable clips around the camcover if you make it any fatter than original.
Bear in mind that if this bit of the cable has degraded this much, the bit down by the sensor itself will be worse, because of local heat, and disturbing the whole cable may hasten problems.
The exposed bit where insulation has cracked off will be at the same potential as anything it touches (ground), so I'd be tempted to leave it alone, or intervene only minimally/gently.

knocked it by climbling over it to find the ECU temp sensor so suppose I better insulate.
What problems will I see if its buggered?

bit of googling = oops..
best I hope runs ok and leave alone ;)
