Eat an apple? You can get 4 for a about 75p

I was going to say "Use the key".
But I have some more constructive advice too.
I had trouble a while back with ours; rubbish range, and battery life a fraction of what it should be.
I managed to get hold of a much more recent one on Ebay (datestamped later than the time all Omegas went over to RF remotes - guess it was a new replacement from Vx) for not much. Trouble is, you either need to program the car's ECU to accept the new code that will be in it, or transplant the memory chip from the old remote into the replacement.
Here's my saga: http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1255721218

I suppose you have tried holding the plip under your chin . . . ::)

Hold it against your temple, and press the button, should treble the distance.

Did you get much better range with the new ebay jobbie?
Mine is the old fob like your original and am used to PCB work so sounds like the way forward if it increases the range :)
-
Yeah, range much better. Still has to be line-of-sight to the receiver obviously, but you can ping ours from a metre or more behind the car through the rear screen.
Just a gamble whether an Ebay one is in better condition. May be better off asking whether anyone on here has a known good'un from a car they're breaking etc.
Suppose if you can get one, just replacing the output driver chip will sort your own, but I seem to remember failing to find a source for that dude.
-
Can anyone tell me where the receiver is?
-
Little black dome hanging down near the rear-view mirror IIRC

Thanks Abiton :y :y

What difference does it make if it doesn't unlock until you're at the car ? :-?
You can't get in until you're at the door, so why worry ?
Neither of my Omegas unlock if more than a few feet away. I've not found it a problem in the last 9 years.
My mate can unlock and open the sliding rear side door of his Peugeot from about 100 feet away.
I've warned him that if he tries that in certain areas the car will be gone by the time he gets to it. :D
