Post by: SP_3.2 on 31 August 2010, 15:42:16
Having a nightmare getting it off the whole case is spining round . What is the best tool to help hold the main body still as i take off the cap.Have used the metal removal wrench....no joy.

Any tips for better  tool and where to get it from.
Thanks

A strap or chain wrench of the type usually used to remove conventional canister oil filters might do the job and they are available cheap from most motor factors.

Failing that get a length of old belt, feed a loop of it through a length of pipe, loop it around the housing and tighten.

When I did mine it was spinning round. I tried a metal belt but couldnt get it tight enough. So i tried spinning the cannister round fast over and over again and it gradualy turned the inner spindal enough to come off in one peice. I then put the cannister in a vice and used a large grip rench to take the lid off. It was very tight. It worked for me.
