Title: 4 bleeps when turning off the ignition ?
Post by: ianu on 02 September 2010, 21:28:29
I don't think this has been happening long - as I only noticed it the other week as I got out of the car in a hurry. It doesn't do it every time though.
Scenario: Pull up and stop the car, ignition off, key out and open the door. I don't think opening the door is related as I think it happens as I take the key out as I still get the buzzer if it's still in as the door opens.
But I'm getting 4 very distinct bleeps/blips I'm assuming from the power sounder as it's definitely coming from under the bonnet near the driver's side (but I'm sure TB had informed me it's actually disconnected).
Any ideas what this is about ? everything else is fine as far as I can tell  :(

Puzzled
Ian.

Thats your powersounder batteries telling you its dying.

remove it, and abandon ( or replace)

DO NOT leave it....these things cause fires!

100% agreement with Jim ...  remove and throw away ... if you wish to replace it was around £60 a year ago.

Bl**dy hell - it's on the list of jobs for the weekend then. Hopefully it can wait 'till then before it self destructs.
Thanks for the advice - is it really worth replacing in anyone's opinion ?
I don't mind - but is it just likely to start waking my neighbours up at 3 in the morning like my last car did ?

cheers
Ian.

it knows its not right, so you should have time....
yes, it can start randomly going off too..

normally if its beeping though, its behaving quite well so wth a bit of luck it will be fine

There is a method of which escapes me, its something to do with disconnecting the battery 15 seconds or less after turning the ignition off where you can stop the power sounder making a racket for a couple of minutes when you disconnect it, but someone with experience can confirm/deny whether this works.

Is it worth replacing  ??? your call of course ... BUT .. if you have told your insurers you have full factory fitted thatcham standard alarm .. and they find you have removed it and not replaced it .. then your insurance could be invalidated.

Will it wake the neighbours  ???   .. mine started to 4 days after the bleeps started, so I disconnected it, then fitted the new one a week later.

My view ... not worth risking the insurance for £60 .. but that was my choice.

Thanks Entwood - I kind of like to have things as they should be anyway so will add it to the list. Does it need anything resetting with the Tech2 - or is it plug and play and off you go ?
